Ruurd Gietema (1964) studied at TU Delft where he graduated in 2002 as urban planner. During his studies he worked for UN Studio, West 8 and MVRDV. In 1996 Ruurd Gietema joined KCAP and became partner in 2002. Ruurd works on a great variety of urban projects in major cities throughout Europe and Asia with a focus on urban assignments in complex situations. He is an expert in urban regeneration via sport, leisure and transport programmes and in the revitalization of former industrial, railway and harbour areas. Which is illustrated by KCAP’s work on the Olympic Legacy Masterplan in London, the Stadiumpark in Rotterdam, the docklands of Rotterdam, Amsterdam, San Sebastian and Hafencity in Hamburg. He teaches and lectures at various universities, institutions and congresses and regularly acts as jury in international urban planning and architectural competitions. www.kcap.nl |
