Having worked as an urban designer and planner with the Japanese general contractor Kajima in Tokyo, and at the regional government Metro in Portland, Oregon USA, he moved to Fukuoka in 2003. Since then his practice has focused upon city center regeneration as a project coordinator for public private partnership. Since its foundation in June 2007, he has served as the general manager of the Tenjin Meiji-dori Development Council (MDC). In 2010 he is appointed as the working leader of the organizing committee for the 3rd International Regions Benchmarking Consortium (IRBC) annual conference. His major area of interest is in city and regional management, creative economy, area marketing, urban design, project development and inter-regional collaboration. Besides his professional practice, he has been active in research, lecture, jury and teaching both in and outside of Japan. He is a registered architect of Japan and a certified planner of the US (AICP).
